Tanker software platform adds two extra satellite AIS providers
In under six years, Spire has managed to build a full-fledged nanosatellite constellation

AXSMarine has added two new satellite AIS providers, Spire Maritime and exactEarth.

With Spire Maritime’s AIS data, AXSMarine can offer deeper support to chartering solutions and the Trade Flows module for micro and macro analysis of both ships and commodity movements covering tanker, liner and dry bulk sectors.

“We are delighted to further enrich our comprehensive package of AIS-derived maritime intelligence, with the addition of the satellite AIS data feed by Spire,” said AXSMarine chief executive Jacques Goudchaux. “Their [Spire] fast-growing constellation of nanosatellites will add value to the over 10,000 individual users, relying on our analytical and chartering solutions on a daily basis to support strategic decisions.”

“We are extremely excited to add AXSMarine to the growing family of companies using our maritime data to increase their service offering and reach,” said Spire Maritime general manager John Lusk.

Together, Spire Maritime and AXSMarine deliver real-time data and insights for the maritime world. In addition to predictive data, features that detect vessel ownership and provide historical data on vessel usage or cargo patterns are provided.

Spire Maritime is a newly created division of space data analytics firm, Spire Global, the company behind developing the world's largest Earth observation constellation of satellites for advanced weather data, maritime analytics, and aircraft tracking.

AXSMarine has also signed a new deal with exactEarth to improve satellite AIS coverage by adding exactView RT powered by Harris.

This will add a high volume of real-time AIS data collected via 60+ payloads aboard the Iridium NEXT satellites constellation.

Representing a brand-new capability for the global maritime industry, exactView RT delivers all vessel and voyage updates with latency of less than one minute.

With this latest improvement, AXSMarine can deliver permanent and consistent monitoring of ships’ movements, providing its 10,000 users worldwide with the most accurate view of the world’s maritime activity to:

  • Access refined and actionable data to make better informed decisions.
  • Benefit from the most complete and up-to-date vessel information.
  • Take immediate actions, armed with real-time global ship tracking.

“We are delighted to improve our AIS coverage and big data analytical solutions with the addition of exactView RT,” said Mr Goudchaux.

“Shipping and commodity markets expect more accuracy and we shall spare no effort to satisfy them. You need the best possible coverage as a basis for your R&D and analyst teams to fuel the algorithms behind our analytical and predictive models. As from today, all our users benefit of this extra coverage at no extra cost.”
